Re: MYOB AccountRight Premier 19.15

From what I have seen on here, there isn't any M-Powered on the new versions and MYOB definitely won't be upgrading any Classic version for STP. I suggest you read this forum about the new versions as you will find there are still a lot of problems, including being incredibly slow (especially with larger files that cannot be purged), they have a lot of crashes and long standing bugs, and they are costly. I have kept all of my old clients on perpetual licences with v19, which is fast and reliable, without subscriptions and without support without a problem so far - I do advise that they have good backup protocols including the programme installers for this to ensure longevity of the programme.

You don't have to upgrade for STP. The ATO has the below announcement on their website: MYOB is also developing a Low Cost payroll STP solution for Micro-employers so this may apply to you.

"Employers with 19 or less employees

Parliament has passed legislation to extend STP reporting to all employers from 1 July 2019.

Talk to your software provider to find out what you need to do to update your software and start reporting.

Different STP reporting options will be available by 1 July 2019 to help smaller employers. However, we won't force employers with 19 or less employees to purchase payroll software if they don’t currently use it.

We have asked software developers to build low-cost STP solutions at or below $10 per month for micro employers – including simple payroll software, mobile phone apps and portals. A register of providers who intend to build these solutions is available at Low-cost STP solutions.

Micro employers (1–4 employees) will also have a number of alternative options that are not available to employers with 20 or more employees – such as initially allowing your registered tax or BAS agent to report quarterly, rather than each time you run your payroll.

Exemptions to STP reporting will also be available if you have no internet or an unreliable connection."

If you haven't already signed up to the ATO's Small Business Newsroom, then I suggest that you do as this provides a lot of useful information regarding STP and other business information "straight from the horses mouth." Do your own research as it is a big change and could be very costly and frustrating for you to just upgrade when you can without assessing all of your options. If you do go with the upgrades, I seriously suggest you keep running a parallel v19 as you may decide to return to it if the new version doesn't work for you. Others on this Forum have done this and even more have given up and left for a different software provider. Hope this helps and feel free to private message me if you would like more detail.

Cheers

Liz

I noticed this frustrating problem last week.

I spent an hour on the phone to their "fix it" department and they finally pronounced that this is the way a Balance Sheet and P&L should look like !

Crazy - this needs to be fixed asap and my reports look wrong.....

Yes I agree it is a bug, something I am waiting on the phone to try and sort out now. Any wonder people are changing to Xero, the wait time is ridiculous.

Steven,

Thank you for taking the time to respond but I advise that I have been using MYOB for many years and know a bug when I see one. My set-up is fine, it is an issue with 2019.1.

Upgrading Company file to 2019.1

I have successfully downloaded the update to 2019.1 but am now asked to upgrade the company file. When I select this option, it displays “upgrading” next to the company file but doesn’t actually do anything. Company file stays at 2018.4.
How do I get it to upgrade???

Hi

Very sorry to hear about your frustration regarding the decimal place display change, we are here to help.

Could you please clarify which field exactly on the invoice is displaying 6 decimal places? Is it the unit price, or one of the total price fields?

If it's the unit price column, there was actually a bug in v2018.3 and 2018.4 that where entering sales you can enter unit prices with up to 6 decimal places, but it only shows 2 decimal places when printing the invoice. This issue is now fixed in 2019.1, it's included in the workflow improvements and bug fixes section in this AccountRight blog post.

If the problem field is not unit price, could you please preview the same sales using one of the AccountRight default forms - Plain Paper or Pre-Printed, do they show 2 decimal places correctly? If so, then it means the customized form used is corrupted. You can fix it by re-customizing one of the default forms.

If there are too much customisation to be done, please give this form migration method a try, exporting the form from a previous version of AccountRight file then import into the current one - Sharing forms with other company files

I hope this helps. Please do let us know how you go, we are happy to answer any further questions.

Re: 2019.1 Invoicing

The issue is an apparent fault in the new release of MYOB 2000 19.1. It has nothing to do with the formatting of my invoice. I have tested a number of different transactions and for a single item, where there is no computation the pre-tax value is the same as the value kept in my system. If the item quantity exceeds one, presumably there is a computation and the resultant net of tax price is rounded to 6 digits. Nowhere in my system is there a six digit reference so the consequences can only come about through a computation within MYOB.

I have run a series of dummy invoices and it is only a single item which gives the two digit price and anything over one i.e. two or more gives me a computed pre-tax price rounded to 6 digits.

This matter should be reviewed further within MYOB and a proper response provided. This issue is only popped up since 2019.1 was installed, and I've been using the same invoice format for more than 10 years.

Re: 2019.1 Invoicing

Further to my earlier post,I can now verify that the six decimal place price is derived as a consequence of multiplying the quantity by the base rate (two decimal places) to get the extended price, and then the extended price is divided by the quantity to get a unit price rounded to 6 decimal places. I have verified this by inputting different quantities into a dummy invoice and getting different derived unit prices.

I cannot issue an invoice to a client because it looks like I have ridiculous six decimal place pricing which I do not have because all of my pricing in MYOB is to two decimal places only. I have been using the same invoice format for more than 10 years and it is only become a problem in the last day. Somebody at MYOB should take this seriously because at the moment I cannot invoice the client, and it costs me $50 a month for this poor service which is twice what I was paying three years ago.

Hi  ,

I agree with  . The behaviour you are seeing is when a user commences a FY rollover, however for one reason or another, MYOB cannot complete the process. At this point MYOB locks you out of the file. This is one of the reasons users are warned several times during the FY rollover to take a backup first. So one thing is for certain, nobody has entered any transactions in this file since the FY Rollover was attempted. I suggest you look for a backup (a .zip file) dated around the same time as the file date. That backup will hopefully be the one taken just before FY Rollover.

If such a backup cannot be found, this file will need to be repaired before it can be opened.

Gavin

Hi

To upgrade an online file to the latest version of AccountRight you would open that company file as per normal with the latest version of the program. This will prompt you to upgrade that file to that latest version. When you select Upgrade it will go through and upgrade that company file, this can take a period of time for that upgrade to complete and will say Upgrading on the Open a Company file>>Online window. After that upgrade has been completed, generally will take 5 minutes although I have seen longer, that status will be removed and it will be updated to AccountRight 2019.1

Occasionally, the upgrade of that file can get stuck and MYOB support intervention would be required. With your case, I have taken a look at I can see those files appear to have upgraded successfully to AccountRight 2019.1.

Hi

The following M-Powered services are being included in the AccountRight 20xx range in a similar form or replace with a similar feature - most being included an AccountRight Subscription costs.

  • M-Powered Bank Statements is now Bank feeds
  • M-Powered Super is now Pay Superannuation and is Super Stream compliant
  • M-Powered Invoices is included in the AccountRight 20xx range with the payment having to be recorded manually, however, Online payments is the recommended process for that service.

As mentioned, M-Powered Payments is the one that has yet to be included in the product range and we are currently exploring alternative solutions to that functionality. We do expect to have that feature available for clients in advance of the September 2019 deadline for AccountRight Classic. In terms of payroll reporting (STP) and those clients using on M-Powered Payments on the AccountRight Classic range, we will have more information on that topic available to them shortly.

EDIT: I should also note that AccountRight 2019 allows for clients to have their company file stored locally or online. If you don't have to have the company file stored in the cloud if required, it can be stored on your computer/network.  However, an Internet connection would be required to lodge your payroll, receive bank feeds, pay superannuation...

Hi

Just testing the Profit & Loss Statement and the Balance Sheet reports in AccountRight 2019.1 I was able to correctly show the totals of header accounts ensuring that the Subtotal option is enabled in the account (as mentioned in my previous post).

If you are experiencing a different situation we would love to see a copy of the Profit and Loss show those account not totalling and also the header accounts showing that the option is enabled for the account. This way we can investigate further.

Steven,

I spent 3 hours on the phone with MYOB Tech Support yesterday with the result being that it was accepted that there is a program issue. The Tech was able to replicate the problem.

Have a look at the attached P&L. I can confirm that the Sub Total options have all been ticked off. You will note that the problem is only in the Income Section, the Expense Section works fine.

Also remember that this problem did not exist in Version 2018.4, it was created when upgrading to 2019.1.
