Re: Upgrade company file

Thanks Hayden,

 

I can now get to the next stage 3 "upload".  I have signed in but the next screen says "You need a subscription for each file you upgrade".  As I have had MYOB for years,  I was told I could upgrade multiple company files which is why we went with this version.  So how do I get past the "AccountRight Live Subscription required"?  Also, my Upgrade Assistant screen does not have the "Upgraded company file will be saved with the following details".

Hi 

 

This tends to appear when we are attempting to upload a file online without a free subscription.

 

With the v19 licences, they were allowing you to have multiple files. At this stage, there was no online ability for them. You are still able to retain these files in the new software as offline/local files.

 

If you are not looking at hosting all your files online we just need to tick a box at the beginning of the process to upgrade your files without putting it online. The details for this can be found in: Upgrade without putting your company file online

Thanks I suggest you provide more information to users about this because the default location for your Library is also one of the normal locations for OneDrive to sync.

 

The solution is to move the Library away from the sync area. This requires a registry change which is what I needed to be told.

Hi 

 

I believe there are 2 options here, and both should not need you to mess around with the Registry.

 

1: Deselect the MYOB Folder (Or Subfolders) from syncing in OneDrive:

Simply click that option and ensure the MYOB Folder (Or relevant Subfolder) is not being synced in OneDrive:

2: Change the Library Location using the Set Library Location Tool:

This tool is designed to change the Registry values for you and specifies the relevant location. For usage on this tool, I suggest reading this support note: Manage libraries - To change the location of My Library

 

 

Note that our Speed and performance tips help article does include a note about Online storage tools, here:

That being said, I have passed on feedback to make this a little more prominent and see if we can include Microsoft and Google help links to performing the steps in the main tools.

the MSI version there installs into the individual users appdata folder, and I cannot set the "Network Library" using that version

I use the "set library Location", set to local folder on server, restart and the new location is not available

 

when I try to use "add Network Library" in Accountright 2018.2, I get the reply

"Accountright Server Edition needs to ne installed on that computer"

Hi 

 

When setting up AccountRight on a Network, it is set up as:

1 Computer is set up as a Host with the databases hosted in it's Indexed location (This uses the Server Installer)

Other workstations connect to the Host by adding a Network Library and connect to the remote library over the network. (This uses the PC or MSI Installer)

 

The MSI Installer is a smaller installer used similarly as "PC Edition" that can be deployed to all Users in a Terminal Server Environment.

The server discussed is both a network server AND a terminal server

(Windows 2012 R2)

There will be one or two terminal users AND mostly local PC users connecting to this server

 

The company will NOT be using the "Cloud" option, and wants the data file kept local, (internet connection speed and connection reliability issues)

 

Making a PC the "Network Library" would not be good practice, so our best option is to run a Server version with the server having the "Network Library"

 

We ran the server EXE install and have the issue mentioned above, where the install never completes

as per the 2016.2 message

Your suggestion below will not work - I have tried it. The problem is that you can not deselect the folder while the .myox file syncs, and it does this continually - thats the problem I am solving. You need to stop the sync first. To do this you have to copy the file being sync'd to a safe location then delete it from the sync'ing folder. This will stop the sync'ing.

 

Then do step 2 and reinstall the file into the new library. There are also issues with the menu which has old library link which does not work and needs to be deleted. I also had to restart the file from the library folder which seemed to generate a menu item. I then restarted AR twice to get it all straightened out.

 

Suggest you get someone to do the whole task from end to end to document all the steps.

 

Obviously the easiest solution would be to fix your service so it does not conflict with OneDrive service then deselection would work ok? I can understand a DB file having problems with continual updates due to demands of the DBMS but the .myox file should be simply a file being accessed by a fat client and I would suggest does not need a service constantly changing it unless you are using this for licencing reasons?

Hi 

 

The issue where it shows "Publishing Product Information" forever tends to occur when we had RDS Installer Compatibility enabled.

 

Can I confirm if this is currently turned off in Group Policy?

Hi 

 

Sorry for the delay in answering your post.

 

From the errors described in the second document, there are 2 troubles here:

 

1. It seems that it had troubles registering a .DLL file in your T:\ drive. This is a non-standard directory which may be why it had failed as typically AccountRight is installed on the C:\. This DLL file is used for BASlink which is the "File Manually" option in the Prepare BAS button of AccountRight, this won't hinder other operations of the software however.

 

To get this one fixed, normally we recommend reinstalling without any software blocking the installation, and attempt to install on C:\.

 

That being said, it may still operate correctly without that .DLL file as I'm not too sure what that exact file is for and may be able to not use it.

 

2. That second warning at the end shows that it couldn't start the Server Service in Windows, it is unrelated to the first issue and can be fixed rather easily.

 

If you haven't already, you just need to follow this support note: AccountRight server service issues

Thanks Steven. I had tried that several times, but of course, it worked today. I manually changed the size. Then unticked the option. Closed the file. Reopened the file, manually changed the size again, reticked the option. Closed the file. Reopened, and now it has worked.

Hi 

 

AccountRight 2018's display settings are based on your Windows display settings, it doesn't have it's own display settings.  If you are looking at needing to update your Window display settings please see Help Article: Fixing display issues. Note: this Help Article is typically used to address display issues that can come about when you have the display set to be 150%.

 


Other programs that you do run can be impacted by a change in Windows Display settings so do speak to an IT person in regards to how other programs will be impacted.

I am getting the below error when trying to connect to the accountright server when we 'Go online (upload this file)

Internet connection is fine, anti virus & firewall have been disconnected to test, same issue.

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a wealth of knowledge


You can uninstall the MYOB API through the Windows Control Panel by selecting the Uninstall a program option from the Add/Remove programs.


In some cases, some programs get stuck and you would not able to uninstall the program through that method. If that is the case, I would recommend using the Microsoft tool which potentially addresses programs from being uninstalled.

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find it a wealth of knowledge

 

Are you able to clarify what version of the program you are using? Help>>About AccountRight. If you are on AccountRight 2018.1 or earlier, we would recommend upgrading to AccountRight 2018.2 to ensure that you are on the latest version. Help Article: Getting the latest version would be able to assist with that process.

 

If you are on AccountRight 2018.2, do go to Help>>Confirm Company File and confirm online.  Once you have confirmed the file, do attempt to upload that company file to the cloud again.

 

Once that file has been confirmed and you are still getting the message we would need to get a copy of your diagnostics file to investigate further. This would be called Huxley.Application_201xxxx and the easiest way to find this file is using the below steps:

  1. Simultaneously press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard (the Windows key is between the Ctrl & Alt keys). The Run window appears.
  2. In the Open field, type %localappdata%\MYOB\AccountRight
  3. Click OK. The contents of the AccountRight folder will appear.
  4. In the AccountRight folder, double-click the folder for your AccountRight version, e.g. 2018.2.
  5. Double-click the Diagnostics folder to display the diagnostic log files
